Mission and Goals

The Wolf River Conservancy is a non-profit [501(c)(3)] organization dedicated to conserving and enhancing the Wolf River and its environs as a natural resource for public education and low impact recreation. We have more than 700 members in the Mid-South, led by an active Board of Directors and executive director and advised by the Wolf River Conservancy Trustees.

WRC's long term goal is to protect all the wetland forests within the 100-year floodplain.  We want to enhance these forests with canoe trails, hiking trails and boardwalks as a recreational and wildlife corridor for our community's enjoyment.  We work towards these goals by:

  • Educating Mid-Southerners of all ages about the river’s biodiversity
  • Addressing policy issues that impact the river
  • Identifying critical areas for acquisition by public agencies

We have adopted the 2004 Land Trust Standards and Practices as we bring land acquisitions into public ownership.
