Do we have bats in the Mid-South area? Of course we do! Where there are mosquitos and other insects, there are sure to be bats. Join us in learning what makes a bat a bat, what habitats they utilize, what food they eat, what species occur in our area, and how on earth do they see at night!Christopher Grow, a biologist with Grow Environmental Solutions, will lead us through these questions and provide you will the answers you seek.

Mr. Grow has over 18 years of experience in the ecological and environmental fields with various private- and public-sector entities. He has extensive and broad field experience with wildlife through various surveys including threatened and endangered species surveys. His experience with wildlife surveys includes mist-netting, acoustic analysis, harp traps, radio telemetry and tracking, use of thermal imaging, and identification of many mammalian genera. Of the mammalian genera, Mr. Grow’s favorite are bats. He holds a federal permit for gray bat, northern long-eared bat, tri-colored bat, and Indiana bat. Today, Mr. Grow will discuss bat biology, ecology, bat species that occur within the Mid-South, threats to bats without our area, and conservation implications that you can utilize to help protect these species.
