Full “Cold Moon” Bonfire at William B Clark State Natural Area
Saturday, December 10, 2022 — 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm
This event is free and open to the public; however, prior registration is required.
Come join our river guides as we gather around a fire pit at the river access ramp of the Wolf River on State Highway 194 north of Rossville, TN. The “Cold” moon will be in its waning gibbous phase with 94% illumination. Viewing should be spectacular, especially if the weather is clear, cool and crisp.
The Conservancy will provide hot dogs and S’mores ingredients for those attending as well as the fire for their preparation. Please feel free to bring your choice of beverages as well as any additional items for you and your family. Do not forget a small flashlight and chairs.
To reach the ramp, drive east from Collierville, Tennessee on Highway 57 (Poplar Avenue) to Highway 194 in Rossville, TN. Turn left (north) onto 194 continuing through town and across the railroad tracks. Immediately after crossing over the Wolf River, turn right into the gravel parking area of the William B Clark State Natural Area. You will notice our river guides from the highway.
There is no rain date for this event. The parking area consists of small, limestone rock so it will be usable in the event rain occurs earlier in the day. Remember, this is an outside event so be sure and dress accordingly. If you love to stand close to the flame, you may want to wear old clothing because hot embers will often jump out of the fire.
