Photo Workshop: Unpacking Conservation and The Photographic Landscape

About This Event
Please join the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and The Wolf River Conservancy for a smartphone workshop on conservation and the photographic landscape.
From the inception of landscape photography in the19th century, the photograph and the landscape have a long and storied relationship with conservation. Conservation and landscape photography has historically played an important role in documenting the natural environment, fostering environmental awareness, and encouraging efforts to preserve and protect vulnerable ecosystems.
University of Memphis Professor Emeritus David Horan will give workshop participants a glimpse into the intersectional nature of conservation and photography in the classroom, and then venture into the wilds of Overton Park to improve their photography skills. This workshop is a perfect intro for beginners and an excellent foray into smartphone photography for experienced creators. We can’t wait to see what you learn!
