Rhodes & WRC Present Water For All

As part of The Wolf River Conservancy Lecture Series, Rhodes College Environmental Studies and Sciences Program, and The Turley Memphis Center for Community Engagement present Water for All: Tackling Lead Contamination Through Environmental Justice.
Memphis, Tennessee, has a legacy of environmental justice initiatives in the 20th century, notably marked by the 1968 sanitation strike. As we move forward into the 21st century, the need for actionable education concerning environmental justice is not only salient, but existentially necessary.
Join the Wolf River Conservancy, Rhodes College Environmental Studies and Sciences Program, and The Turley Memphis Center for Community Engagement as we host LaTricea Adams, founder, CEO, and President of Young, Gifted and Green, for a presentation on contemporary environmental justice practice.
Founded in the wake of the Flint water crisis, Young, Gifted, and Green is now a national award-winning nonprofit organization, committed to the critical issue of lead contamination in our water systems, as well as broader environmental justice issues impacting marginalized communities. Ms. Adams will discuss the critical issue of lead contamination in our water systems and explore how historically marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by this public health crisis. She will also examine actionable solutions, policy changes, and grassroots movements driving environmental justice.
