March 2022: A Message from Our Director

Spring is in the air - which means warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours will provide you with more opportunities to enjoy the Wolf River Greenway, including walking, running, and biking.

The Wolf River Conservancy is offering some great springtime activities on the Wolf River Greenway as well. Nick Wiggins, our Community Conservation Manager, has been busy putting together a variety of free programs for our community, newly enhanced thanks to feedback from last year's participants. Our season is now split into spring and fall sessions to avoid the heat of summer – and we have added more restrooms and programs, including several on Sundays! Spring activities begin on April 16th.

Paddle the Greenway is back for 2022 and better than ever, providing people a chance to learn how to paddle a kayak or canoe, or for experienced paddlers to enjoy our 25-acre lake along the Wolf River Greenway at Epping Way. There are 2 canoes and 10 kayaks on hand that participants can use, and Wolf River Conservancy Paddle Guides to assist and supervise on the water. You must sign up in advance.

Explore the Greenway is an opportunity for folks to learn more about the Wolf River, its native flora and fauna, and more! Wander next to a field of wildflowers, or search for mushrooms along the Wolf River with our Educational Guides. Free one-hour walks are scheduled on several weekends in the spring and fall at selected Greenway sections.

Sign up for Sweat the Greenway to get outside and get fit along the picturesque landscapes of the Wolf River Greenway! Free one-hour morning classes run in the spring and fall at the Mud Island section of the Wolf River Greenway.

Wishing you all a wonderful spring. Thank you for your support!

Keith Cole
Executive Director
