Conservation: Fedex Cares Volunteers Lend a Hand

On April 10, 44 FedEx Cares volunteers, in partnership with Wolf River Conservancy, Clean Memphis, and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), came together to support the Wolf River and the Wolf River Greenway in Memphis. This marked 16 years of collaboration with FedEx Cares and their work with NFWF to conserve and restore urban ecosystems across the country.

With the help of dedicated FedEx volunteers, along with our partner Clean Memphis, we undertook various projects to enhance the Greenway's biodiversity and overall health at our Epping Way property. Heading onto the Greenway and the banks of the lake, volunteers removed an estimated 160 lbs of litter largely left by the recently retreated flood waters and restored the severely eroded gravel path to our boat launch.   Volunteers then installed 2 bat houses overlooking a new wetland, bolstering the Conservancy’s continued effort to aid bats and other species in need of cavities for nesting or roosting.  Lastly, the hand-weeding and mulching of 121 young trees by volunteers along the Greenway will help them survive and thrive. These trees will help Epping Way qualify as our second certified arboretum one day. Thank you, FedEx volunteers, for your hard work and your commitment to improving the environment!
