Volunteer Spotlight: Tiffany Smith & Henry Shockness

For our February Volunteer Spotlight, the Conservancy would like to highlight the efforts of Tiffany Smith and Henry Shockness. This dynamic duo has gone above and beyond to support the Wolf River Conservancy with their volunteer efforts. In November of 2025, Henry and Tiffany dedicated a Saturday evening to assist us with our annual fundraiser, The Greenway Soiree. We cannot host this event without the dedication of our event volunteers, and they were outstanding contributors to our fundraising efforts.
Neither did Tiffany and Henry disappoint on our MLK Day of Service at T.O. Fuller State Park, joining on a blustery January morning to help us in restoring the park campground’s adjacent hiking trail with new steps and bridges, shoveling mulch to restore the playground surface, and removing invasive plant species from the campground bluffs.
The Daily Memphian spoke to Tiffany about her commitment to service, despite the cold weather. “The temperature doesn’t control your efforts in giving back to the community,” she said, as she helped lay down new mulch in the park playground. “So it’s always great to just give back to the community no matter what the temperature is. It just gives me the opportunity to support the city of Memphis in any way I can. I think it’s a great city despite the struggles and challenges that we have. It’s a great place to live,” Smith said. “If we can clean it up, make it look good, maybe that’ll change some of the negativity that’s being spread about the city.”
Volunteers like Henry and Tiffany assist with our core mission of protecting the Wolf River and its watershed and we thank them for their service.
Be like Henry and Tiffany. Join us for the remaining events in our Wolf River Restoration Series and help us preserve and protect the wonder of The Wolf.
Tiffany Smith and Henry Shockness are honored for exceptional volunteer service with the Wolf River Conservancy, inspiring others to join and protect The Wolf.
