Wolf River Conservancy Awarded $50,000 Healthy Built Environments Grant to Advance Epping Way Vision Plan

The Wolf River Conservancy is proud to announce it has been awarded a $50,000 Healthy Built Environments (HBE) grant from the Tennessee Department of Health. This competitive grant will support the development of a comprehensive vision plan for the Epping Way property in the Raleigh neighborhood of Memphis, transforming one of the city’s most accessible green spaces into a vibrant, inclusive, and health-focused community asset.
The Epping Way Vision Plan will be created in collaboration with community partners, design professionals, and local stakeholders. Input from the people that use it often and the surrounding community is a huge part of this effort. The plan will attempt to meet the needs of the community and promote physical activity, mental well-being, and environmental stewardship.
“This grant allows us to engage the community in shaping a space that reflects their needs and aspirations,” said Erik Houston, Executive Director of the Wolf River Conservancy. “We’re excited to build on the momentum of past investments and create a healthier, more connected future for Raleigh and beyond.”
The project will include public meetings, site analysis, conceptual designs, and a final vision plan with phased implementation strategies. Evaluation efforts will be supported by academic partners, including the UT Health Science Center and the University of Memphis.
The Conservancy extends its gratitude to the Tennessee Department of Health and all supporting partners for helping bring this transformative project to life.
