Our Newest Preserved Property - North Fork Preserve

The North Fork Preserve is the newest conservation property protected within the Wolf River watershed, an important step forward in the Wolf River Conservancy’s core mission to preserve land and protect the natural systems that sustain our region. Totaling 188 acres, the property represents a strategic patchwork assembled from three different landowners. Located just outside of Moscow, Tennessee, this scenic preserve includes two 30x30 priority properties, part of the Conservancy’s ambitious vision to protect 30 top-ranked properties by 2030.

Wetlands abound across the North Fork Preserve’s landscape, where habitats range from young hardwood forests to mature bottomland hardwoods to towering baldcypress trees in a true water-rich ecosystem. These wetlands play a critical role in filtering water, reducing flooding, and supporting diverse wildlife—demonstrating exactly why land conservation is essential to the long-term health of the Wolf River watershed.

This preserve also highlights an important truth about conservation: not all of the most impactful properties lie directly along the Wolf River. Many of the watershed’s highest-value lands are along its tributaries, such as the North Fork, where protecting upstream habitats strengthens the entire system downstream.

By conserving places like the North Fork Preserve, the Wolf River Conservancy is not only protecting land—we are safeguarding water quality, preserving wildlife habitat, and ensuring that future generations can experience the natural beauty and benefits of a healthy watershed.
